Care of the Order
A piece, properly cared for, will outlast the season that bought it. Treat yours with the deference it earns.
Printed apparel
- Turn inside out before washing.
- Cold water. Mild detergent. No bleach, no softener.
- Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Heat sets the ink permanently; over heat will dull it.
- Iron inside out only. Never directly on the print.
Mesh and structured pieces
- Hand wash cold, mild detergent, no wringing.
- Roll in a towel to absorb water, then air dry flat.
- Avoid hanging when wet. Mesh stretches.
Leather (chokers, cuffs)
- Wipe with a damp cloth. Never submerge.
- Condition twice a year with a neutral leather balm. No dyed balms; they will mark the bone-paper packing slip and probably your skin.
Silver (rings, pendants, cuffs)
- Tarnish is the patina of regular wear. We do not consider it a defect.
- To brighten: soft cloth, a drop of silver polish, the smallest pressure your hand will give.
Candles
- First burn: until the entire surface is liquid. Otherwise the candle will tunnel.
- Trim the wick to a quarter inch before each subsequent burn.
- Never leave unattended. The Order does not insure house fires.
